I have saved the best for last!
Sophie's teacher is from New Orleans and it is only 3 1/2 hours from where we were, so we decided to take the day trip. Really, we wanted to go to the Duck Commander warehouse to try to see our favorite Duck Dynasty peeps, but that was a 6 hour drive and although I think Sophie and I still might have gone for it... hubby was not!
We picked a bad weather day to go... knowing there wasn't much to do at the beach in the rain and knowing we would have a good time no matter what the weather... we put in a good book to listen to... and although our drive was stormy, the rain stopped when we got there and we had a GREAT day.

Since we only had the day, we spent our time around the French Quarter.

We decided with limited time, everyone should pick a thing or two that they wanted to do... and that's what we would do.
Sophie wanted to try Gumbo (and we did NOT tell her that we knew she wouldn't like it)

And... she didn't like it!

We all wanted to go to the Saint Louis Cathedral. {amazing}

Jason wanted to go down Bourbon Street.

We just kept Sophie occupied as we went through a bit of {not so appropriate} places on Bourbon Street.

We of course got Hurricane's at Pat Obriens.

My pick was to go on a Haunted Ghost tour. Which was actually filled with a lot of history that Sophie had just studied in school... with a few twists of course. ;o)

And as people showed the tour guide photos that they took along the way that they suspected ghostly "activity" in... we showed one that we were sure had suspicious activity. Hahahahaha... we think we are funny!

Sophie's choice was to buy a mask. And although we saw masks in every shop there, we found an adorable shop where they were hand made and the people helped pick an adorable {affordable!!} mask for Sophie.

And we ALL had on our list beignets from Cafe Du Monde.

And these went over much better than the gumbo!

And Sophie and I had a little fun with the powdered sugar!

I have to tell you that I love the streets, the large doors, the large windows...

And... my camera battery DIED and my phone DIED and I guess that is okay.
The VERY LAST thing for me to post about my trip is Sophie's FAVORITE thing we did. On the beach at night... we went crabbing!!!

You know what they say... a vacation isn't a vacation until someone gets crabs.
{did I just say that???}
Have a great day!!
